Mystos is a small, remote island southeast of Destos. It contains green lowlands, forested hills, and a relatively gentle coastline. Several nearby islets form part of the same island chain and may be the exposed peaks of a submerged ridge.

 

Mystos has a warm maritime climate. Rainfall is regular, temperatures remain moderate throughout the year, and the surrounding ocean protects the island from the extreme heat of the Destic interior. Humid forests cover much of the land, while beaches, sheltered bays, and coastal wetlands surround the lower elevations.

 

Its isolation allows unique plants, animals, traditions, and ruins to survive without significant outside influence. The island can support fishing, small-scale agriculture, and maritime trade, but its limited size prevents it from sustaining a large population.

 

Mystos stands along sea routes crossing the southern ocean. For this reason, it can function as a resupply point, naval outpost, sanctuary, or hidden settlement. Its distance from the major kingdoms also makes it an ideal location for monasteries and exiles seeking a new start.
