The Stormy Isles are a scattered archipelago southwest of Olympia. Most of the islands are small, rocky, and mountainous, with limited areas of forest or flat farmland. Their irregular forms and steep terrain mark them as volcanic islands or remnants of a partially submerged mountain chain.

 

The surrounding waters contain narrow channels, reefs, powerful currents, and concealed coves. The region has a volatile oceanic climate, with strong winds, frequent storms, heavy rainfall, and rapidly changing conditions. Some islands are lush and humid, while smaller exposed islands are windswept and sparsely vegetated.

 

Agriculture is limited, so the islands depend upon fishing, seafaring, trade, and resources gathered from the sea. No single island possesses enough land to dominate through agriculture alone. For this reason, power instead belongs to whoever controls the largest fleets, safest harbors, and most reliable passages through the reefs.
